On November 7th, 2012 Bradenton residents William and Debra Hassall were awarded $2.1 million dollars following an injury that occured on October 28th, 2009.
William Hassall, then 50, was walking his 6 month old puppy when he was struck by Norris Pile, then 72, also of Bradenton, on 71st St West in Bradenton. Mr. Hassall received severe and permanent injuries to his upper left extremities in the accident. These injuries have required 2 separate surgeries already and possibly a 3rd in the future for Mr. Hassall, as well as surgery for his dog who was also injured.
The Hassalls were represented by co-counsels Scott Kallins and Melton Little during the three day trial where the jury determined, after just one hour of deliberation, that Mr. Pile was 100% at fault. Kallins and Little stated they were extremely pleased with the positive outcome for their clients.
The trial was presided over by the honorable Judge Janet Dunnigan in Manatee County, opposing counsel was Jeff Pears of Sarasota.
