Palmetto, FL. – November 1st 2012 marked the completion of “Ward 1-Phase 2,” a multimillion dollar Palmetto neighborhood revitalization project. Mayor Shirley Bryant, Ward 1 City Commissioner Charles Smith, representatives from Gator Grading and Paving, Lombardo and Foley Engineering, staff from Public Works, Police Chief Rick Wells and County Commissioner Michael Gallen met to celebrate and review the finished project.
The Ward 1 – Phase 2 Project was designed and constructed to improve the neighborhood bounded by 10th Street and 12th Street Drive, and 5th Avenue West and 8th Avenue West. The project included new water and sewer infrastructure, wider sidewalks, paved roadways, and much more. “I want to commend the City, the CRA, and any individual who was involved in putting this project together. It took a lot of hard work and there were some bumps in the road, but now families can play and enjoy the outside of their homes and I’m just so excited to see that,” Said City Commissioner Charles Smith.
