Why Hunger is part of Hard Rock’s Ongoing “Love All, Serve All” Globally Meaningful, Locally Relevant Efforts
TAMPA, Fla. – Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (SHRHC) in Tampa is kicking off the official season of giving by helping to feed children and their families. SHRHC will collect food for the local Metropolitan Ministries’ 40 Years Drive this holiday season as part of the IMAGINE THERE’S NO HUNGER campaign, a global campaign to raise awareness and funding for the fight against childhood hunger and poverty.
“It takes the effort of the entire community to pull together for its neighbors in need,” said Tim Marks, president of Metropolitan Ministries. “We appreciate the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s leadership in driving our holiday efforts and supporting our 40 years of service. We are grateful for their commitment to meeting the needs of families in crisis throughout the Bay Area.”
Initiatives to benefit Metropolitan Ministries include:
- Nov. 1 – Dec. 18: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa employees will collect nonperishable food items, new clothes and hygiene products on property.
- Nov. 1 – Dec. 18: Bags of Joy program – Collection of toys, strollers, electronics, new clothes and other essential items for boys and girls, ages 1-17. Donations can be dropped off at the bell desk any time.
- Friday, Nov. 16: Seminole Hard Rock Calendar Girls will deliver a truckload of items to the Clear Channel Food Drive at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. The public is invited to drop off donations between 5 a.m. and noon.
- November – December: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa employees will volunteer at the Metropolitan Ministries’ Holiday Tent. They will sort donations, register clients, clean and serve food.
- Throughout the year: Lost and found items including clothing and eyeglasses are donated to Metropolitan Ministries. Hotel linen and terry are also donated.
World-wide events are part of Hard Rock International’s 2012 global IMAGINE THERE’S NO HUNGER campaign, which is supported by John Lennon’s wife, artist and musician Yoko Ono Lennon, to combat childhood hunger and poverty around the world. Dedicated to the brand’s “All is One” core value, proceeds from Hard Rock’s campaign will directly benefit WhyHunger, a leader in building the global movement to end hunger and poverty, and its grassroots partners around the globe in hopes of finding long-term solutions through sustainable agriculture.
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa will donate 100 percent of the retail purchase price from its Lennon inspired limited-edition pin ($12) to IMAGINE THERE’S NO HUNGER. The property will also donate 15 percent of the retail purchase price from its signature men’s T-shirt ($26). Both items are available for purchase now through December 31 inside the Rock Shop, located next to the Hard Rock Cafe.
Hard Rock Cafe patrons who add a $1 donation to their meal tab will receive an “Imagine” bracelet. One hundred percent of bracelet fundraising will benefit charity partners in Cameroon, China, Haiti, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda and the United States.
