[November 1, 2012 ~ St. Petersburg, Fla.] The Florida Orchestra Guild, St. Petersburg. Inc., and Museum of Fine Arts will present Evening with the Arts to be held at the Museum, 255 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg, beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Florida Orchestra and Museum.

The evening will feature presentation of the 46th annual Golden Baton Award for extraordinary contributions to The Florida Orchestra and the arts and cultural life of St. Petersburg. The 2012 honoree is Gordon J. Gilbert, MD. Florida Orchestra musicians will perform in his honor when the Golden Baton Award is presented during dinner.
Dr. Gilbert and his late wife Adele contributed to the Orchestra for many years as subscribers and donors. The Gilberts sponsored a concert, and he currently participates in sponsorship of a Florida Orchestra musician. Dr. Gilbert is also a Museum trustee, chairing the Accessions Committee. The Museum has mounted two special exhibitions from the collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings developed by the Gilberts.
The Evening With the Arts celebration will begin with cocktails (cash bar) and a silent auction, followed by a seated dinner in the Museum’s conservatory. Dinner menu choices, to be selected at the time reservations are made, are filet mignon, red snapper, and a vegetarian dish.
