Tampa, Fla. (October 24, 2012) – The Tampa Bay Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) will host a wrap-up panel discussion Oct. 31 on the impact of the Republican National Convention. Hosted by Tampa Bay Times Political Editor Adam Smith, the panel will discuss the convention’s long-term impacts to Tampa Bay and the challenges of hosting the largest media event second only to the Olympics.
The panel will include Dr. Susan MacManus, professor of political science at the University of South Florida; Ken Jones, president and CEO of the 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee; and Doug McClain, vice president of marketing and communications for Tampa Bay & Company.
The event will be held at Brio Tuscan Grille at International Plaza in Tampa, 2223 N. West Shore Blvd., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Admission for FPRA members and students is $25. FPRA Tampa Bay is one of 15 statewide chapters. The initial framework began for the Florida Public Relations Association in Tampa in 1938. On April 17, 1956, the first chapter, the Tampa Bay Chapter (then known as the Gasparilla Chapter), was chartered.
