SARASOTA, Fla, October 23, 2012) Manasota SCORE and USF Sarasota-Manatee College of Business are sponsoring a workshop on November 7 entitled “Protect Your Intellectual Property,” featuring a presentation by Craig K. Morris, Managing Attorney for Trademark Outreach, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Morris is the project manager for the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS), and he received a Department of Commerce Silver Medal Award for his contributions in introducing TEAS.
Presentation topics include: Trademarks, copyright and patents; domain names and business name registration; selecting a strong, protectable mark; responding to a “cease-and-desist” letter; finding a patent attorney; and avoiding scams that solicit fees for services not required by the USPTO.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, in the USF Sarasota-Manatee Selby Auditorium, 8350 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. The 90-minute presentation begins at 9:30, leaving 30 minutes for a Q&A session. Parking on campus in designated visitors spots is prohibited, but free parking will be available in any other spaces.
SCORE is a national, nonprofit organization started in 1964. SCORE has over 12,000 members, retired business executives who donate their time providing education and mentoring services for people who are starting a new or growing an existing business.
