Abbey Dohring recognized for work with urban Tampa community
TAMPA, Fla. (October 19, 2012) — Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) of Tampa Bay is pleased to announce one of its top members is a finalist for the Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture and the Arts (TBBCA) 2012 Impact Award.
Abbey Dohring is the Vice President of Brokerage for The Dohring Group, a commercial real estate company with an emphasis on urban office and retail properties. CREW nominated her for the award because of her work to secure funds and coordinate the installation of a public art program, known as ArtLoud!
CREW Tampa Bay’s ArtLoud! is a program intended to cosmetically improve Tampa’s urban walking space with sculpture.
“I am honored and humbled to have been nominated for this award,” Dohring said. “Being a part of CREW has given me wonderful opportunities to give back to the community and even greater opportunities to establish the future of downtown Tampa by working with such a powerful and encouraging group of women.”
Dohring has been a member of CREW since 2007. She is the founding member of a committee focused on revitalizing downtown Tampa. Over the span of her involvement, the committee has helped raise contributions of over $450,000 for physical improvements to the streetscape. Notable examples of the results of the group’s efforts are: four Bradley Arthur sculptures in Kiley Gardens, next to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Parkand a sculpture called ‘Nemo on Wheaties’ by Dominique Martinez near the Tampa Convention Center.
Winners of the TBBCA awards will be announced at a ceremony set for Wednesday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI). Advance tickets are currently available online. The Impact Awards proceeds will go to the TBBCA’s Save the Arts campaign benefitting such programs as High School Art Stars, Chalk Walk and Cultural Encounters.
