iPad Wine Menu Now Available for Guests; New Responsive Design Website Launched; iPad Terminals Provide Service Team with High-Efficiency Tool Behind-the-Scenes
Michael’s On East guests now benefit from a variety of new technological advances aimed to best serve guests of the restaurant and catering operation as well the adjacent Michael’s Wine Cellar’s online store. The enhancements include the unveiling of an Apple iPad wine menu in the restaurant, launch of a new responsive design website and installation of new Apple iPad terminals behind the scenes to maximize the efficiency of the experienced service team.
“Over the past several months, we have worked with multiple partners to research and invest in new technology to allow our talented team to do what they do best: focus on the ultimate guest experience,” said Michael Klauber, co-proprietor of Michael’s On East. “Whether you are discovering a new bottle of wine in the restaurant, making an online reservation or shopping our online wine store, always know that every aspect of our operation focuses on our guests’ needs as we continually strive to exceed their expectations.”
Klauber, who has personally utilized Apple computers since opening Michael’s On East in 1987 and is a self-proclaimed digital addict, lead the charge to integrate all of the organization’s hardware and a majority of its software to Mac-based products.
The availability of Michael’s extensive wine list is now easily organized within an interactive iPad program. Using an innovative application called Tastevin, the 350-bottle list can be explored by varietal, price and region. The digital wine list will complement Michael’s team of wine specialists, simply acting as an additional resource for guests who wish to explore information about winemakers, ratings and perfectly-paired appetizers, entrees and desert suggestions while browsing elaborate descriptions of the ever-evolving wine list. Michael’s On East is the first restaurant in Florida to use Tastevin.
The new www.bestfood.com website, which encompasses Michaels on East, Michael’s Wine Cellar, and Michael’s Events & Catering, was designed and developed by True Green Studios, a boutique creative studio in Sarasota. With simplicity as its trademark, True Green Studios created the site to unify online the new visual identity for all extensions of the Michaels on East brand that was unveiled offline earlier this year. A responsive design was utilized to provide an enjoyable user experience on both traditional online and the ever-growing mobile and tablet platforms. Responsive design is an approach to web page creation based on flexible layouts and flexible images that results in the layout changing according to the viewing environment.
Finally, the installation of iPad service terminals in the restaurant provides servers with a high-end tool many are already familiar with, allowing them to spend more time directly interacting with guests. This transition incorporates trusted software, Digital Dining, with leading-edge hardware, Apple iPads.
