A prelude to the 2012 Bradenton Blues Festival, the FREE Countdown to the Blues series is designed to introduce area music lovers to different styles of the blues
The inaugural Bradenton Blues Festival is December 1, 2012, in downtown Bradenton.
(Bradenton, FL) Bradenton Blues Festival organizer Realize Bradenton and festival sponsor Sarasota Guitar Company announce that the final concert of the popular “Countdown to the Blues” series will occur on Sunday, October 21, with a performance by guitarists and vocalists Al Owen and Mikey Silbaugh of the band Soul Purpose. The duo will give a special presentation showcasing how the blues influence modern rock music.
The free concert will be held at Sarasota Guitar Company, 2111 Cortez Road West, Bradenton, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Part concert and part seminar, the Countdown to the Blues performances are being presented in conjunction with the inaugural Bradenton Blues Festival to introduce the community to some of the area’s outstanding musical talent, as well as to different styles of music that fall under the genre referred to as the blues.
The Countdown to the Blues series began in May and has featured Bradenton-based bluesmen Steve Arvey and RJ Howson, finger-style guitarist George Worthmore, Tampa Bay bluesman Sarasota Slim, and Tampa Bay soul singer Betty Fox.
“Bradenton has always attracted great blues musicians,” says Realize Bradenton’s executive director, Johnette Isham. “The fans here are amazing and engaged and they love the blues! We are expecting another standing room only crowd for Al Owen and Mikey Silbaugh,” she adds. “The Countdown to the Blues series has been a great way to keep the buzz going for the December 1 Bradenton Blues Festival. Hats off to Sarasota Guitar Company for supporting the festival, local musicians and their fans.”
