Offering the best of what’s around, right downtown!(Tampa, FL) October 10, 2012 – The Free Dictionary defines market as, “A public gathering held for buying and selling merchandise.” Tampa Downtown Partnership is bringing just that to Tampa’s Downtown by way of a new, improved outdoor Sunday market beginning October 14, and every Sunday through the end of May.

In Tampa’s Downtown
The downtown market is a family, pet and eco-friendly market featuring locally grown produce and specialty foods and artisan goods. Vendors will span the 600 and 700 blocks of Franklin Street flanking the Zack Street Promenade of the Arts, in front of the Franklin Exchange Building and TECO Plaza. This authentic farmers market also has an economic development focus, as it introduces local businesses to the downtown market while they offer their wares at the market. You can expect to find the following goods (and more) for sale each week:
Herbs and spices
Jellies, jams and sauces
Artisan breads, cuban breads
Eggs and dairy
Desserts of all kinds
Jewelry and accessories
Homemade soaps and lotions
And that’s not all!Animal lovers, be warned! Your heart is going to melt when you see what the
Humane Society of Tampa Bay will have in tow. They are bringing out dogs for adoption, like Hank shown here in the photo, so come out, show these furry friends some love, even if you are not ready to bring one home.
When we say the market is family friendly, that means pet friendly too. So people are encouraged to pack up Fido and bring him along for the day. Dog bowls and doggie treats will be waiting for them! There’s plenty of shaded areas too.
MacDonald Training Center artists will have their original art work, posters, notecards and Christmas cards for sale at the market such as the Guitar Man by Omoro S. Ralls.
To kick off the first week, saxophonist Matt Weihmuller, Patel Conservatory and the Alan Thomas Jazz Trio will fill the streets with their distinctive sounds, while the Balloon Princess, Tiara Porch, will delight children of all ages with her balloon sculpting artistry.
While at the market, attendees can also enjoy café seating, local restaurant fare from nearby establishments, and family activities to enhance their outdoor market experience.
