SARASOTA (October 9, 2012) – Jeanne Corcoran, director of the Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office, a division of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC), has been elected to the board of directors of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI). With more than 300 members located on almost every continent, the AFCI is the worldwide professional organization for film commissioners who assist film, television and video production.

Corcoran has been a professional, full-time film commissioner for 15 years: a decade with the State of Nevada film office as a film commissioner and the statewide production manager, and five years in her current position in Sarasota County. Serving as Sarasota County’s film commissioner since spring of 2007, Corcoran has led development of innovative services and incentives to attract and assist over 1,500 productions generating more than $32 million in economic impact for the community. She has served on the boards for Women in Film International, Film Florida, DACUM for the Arts Institute of America and Mystery Florida. Corcoran is also an award-winning writer, producer and creative director in film, television and video, creating more than 300 productions from concept to completion in the private sector.
