|Favorites from the waterfront restaurants bring in a bounty to helpend childhood hunger
Anna Maria and Longboat Key,Florida, October 2, 2102 – The Sandbar, Beachhouse and Mar Vista , their employees and patrons rallied around ShareOur Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry™ in September, raising $1250.00to support Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to end childhood hungerin America. The restaurant donated $1.00 from the sale of each burger andgrouper sandwich from September 16 – September 23, 2012, joining thousandsrestaurants nationwide as part of Share Our Strength’s month-long No Kid Hungryinitiative.
“More than 16 million children in America can’tcount on getting the food they need,” says Ed Chiles,owner “That’s one in five who are at risk—a number we find completelyunacceptable. Our Dine Out For No Kid Hungry promotion is just one way we cansupport the No Kid Hungry campaign, with the help of our employees and ourcustomers, to ensure that no child in America goes hungry.
Customers were encouraged to order the groupersandwich or burger to help raise as much as possible. Once they heard about theprogram many ordered one or two To Go.
The No Kid Hungry campaign puts the funds raised togood and efficient use, raising awareness of childhood hunger; creatingpublic-private partnerships to align kids with the resources they need;supportingschool breakfast, summer and after-school meal programs; and educating familiesabouthow to cook nutritiously with limited resources. Dine Out For No KidHungry is nationally sponsored by Sysco, American Express, Ecolab, SCA, FoodNetwork, USA Today and the NationalRestaurant Association.
