TAMPA, FLA. (Oct. 3, 2012) – Florida Orthopaedic Institute announces the recognition of Dr. Kenneth Gustke as one of the “Top 21 U.S. Hip Surgeons” and Dr. Mark Frankle as one the “Top 28 U.S. Shoulder Surgeons” reported by Orthopedics This Week and RRY Publications.
Actively practicing physicians and thought leaders across the United States were asked to name the surgeons they hold in highest regard as professionals – surgeons with whom they have personally worked and would recommend to others.
“The wonderful thing about national recognition is that our patients can be confident about the skill and level of care these FOI doctors bring to our local community. Practicing the highest quality science and medicine, and knowing our colleagues recognize this quality in our doctors, makes us very proud indeed,” says Dr. Roy Sanders, president and chief medical officer of Florida Orthopaedic Institute.
As a founding member and former Florida Orthopaedic Institute president, Dr. Gustke is known nationally and internationally for pioneering efforts in joint replacement surgery, implant designs and surgical techniques. Dr. Gustke has designed eight total hip replacement implants that have been used in hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide.
Dr. Frankle has designed four implants and three instrumentations that have been used in shoulder replacements within multiple orthopedic companies across the nation. Having published more than 64 articles in professional journals, 12 chapters and one book, Dr. Frankle maintains ongoing research projects and presenting his work annually at various professional conferences across the country.
In addition to patient care, FOI is nationally recognized through its Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education and its fellowship-training program, offered exclusively for orthopedic providers of the future.
