ST. PETERSBURG, Fl. (Oct. 2, 2012) – A nationally recognized expert on military families will give a talk on “Supporting Child Development in Military Families,’’ Friday, Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Karen A. Steidinger Auditorium at the Florida Marine Research Institute, 100 8th Ave. SE in St. Petersburg.
Ellen R. DeVoe, Ph.D., is an associate professor at Boston University’s School of Social Work. She is the principal investigator of Strong Families Strong Forces, a home-based program designed to support military families with young children ages birth to 5 during a parent’s deployment. The research is backed by a $1.5 million Department of Defense research grant.
The talk is co-sponsored by the USFSP Reserve Officer Training Corps and the USFSP Family Study Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.
