Southwest Florida – Manatee County businesswoman Candice McElyea will re-join the SNN Local News team as a freelance news reporter beginning on October 3, 2012. McElyea worked as a full time news reporter/anchor at SNN from 1998-2001 and will now work one-two days a week as the popular news station expands into Manatee County on Verizon. “I am thrilled to be coming home to SNN,” said McElyea. “Reporting is something that I am very passionate about; as a Sarasota/Manatee County resident for close to 30 years, my roots here are deep and I love telling the stories of my friends and neighbors.”
McElyea moved to Sarasota, FL with her family in 1984 and is a graduate of Riverview High School and of the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. She worked as a news reporter at the ABC news affiliate in Salisbury, MD, before moving to SNN in 1998. Mostrecently she opened a full service public relations and media company, is afreelance news writer for Yahoo! News and is co-founder of PoliticallyPersonal.com.

McElyea will be a freelance general assignment reporter with a focus on Manatee County news. SNN Local News is on Comcast channels 6 and400, and on Verizon channel 26.
