Equipped with high resolution video surveillance systems capable of detecting body heat, traffic flow and object tracking, Integrated Security Consultants (ISC) quickly became one of the region’s fastest growing security companies after entering the world of government contracting with assistance from the Small Business Development Center’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center. ISC owner, Kenneth Stewart, didn’t let 2008’s economic woes stop him from launching and growing the company to more than a million in annual sales. After providing security services for three Super Bowls, Disney and BMW dealerships, ISC won a contract to install the City of Tampa’s wireless camera system for the Republican National Convention.
Stewart discovered the SBDC at its annual Government Small Business Conference, right after he launched his business. There he met Procurement Manager Charlene Bostic who began helping him learn how to do business with the government and large corporations. The firm attended numerous SBDC business training workshops, government conferences and utilized the Center’s no-cost consulting services.
“Without the SBDC’s assistance, there is no way we could have become the fastest growing security company during the downturn in 2008,” Stewart said. “Charlene’s knowledge of government contracting procedures was instrumental in my ability to comprehend the contracting process, obtain numerous contracts and become certified.”
