The Tampa and Largo campuses of Jersey College’s Nursing School will be attending and sponsoring community health fairs Saturday, May 13.
Tampa, F.L. – May 11, 2017 – Jersey College, a private post-secondary institution with local campuses in Tampa and Largo will be sponsoring Health Fairs across the Tampa Bay area this weekend. In celebration of Nurses Week and spreading community health, Jersey College nursing students and faculty will be offering free blood pressure screenings and information about nursing education at the events. “These events are a great way for our students and institution to connect with the community around us,” says Maggie Garberg, Campus Administrator.
The Jersey College – Tampa Campus is a presenting sponsor of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce Health and Wellness Fair, along with Brandon Regional Hospital and Westfield Mall. The event will be hosted at Westfield Brandon (459 Brandon Town Center Dr., Brandon, FL) Saturday, May 13 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The Largo Campus is the presenting sponsor at the Sun Coast Osteopathic Foundation’s 5th Annual Saturday in the Park Family Health Fest. The event is hosted at Largo Central Park on May 13 from 11:30 AM to 3 PM. Both events are free to the community and will offer health and wellness themed activities.
Jersey College was established in 2003 with the goal of offering nursing education for the adult professional. Since then it has expanded to five additional campuses located in New Jersey and Florida. The main campus is located in Teterboro, New Jersey and branch campuses are located in Tampa, FL; Largo, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Ewing, NJ. The most recent campus expansion is the Largo Campus which is housed within the hospital at Largo Medical Center — a first of its kind in the area.
In addition to celebrating Nurses Week with the community health fairs, Jersey College will graduate their 5,000th nursing student this month and will be hosting a celebration on May 18 at each of their six campus locations. The events are open to the public and will include tours of the school, simulation lab demonstrations, special guest keynote addresses, alumni speakers, and refreshments.
