Tampa, Florida (March 29, 2017) – Tampa Community will present a seminar entitled “Addiction” on Thursday, April 13, from noon to 1 pm at the hospital at 6001 Webb Road, Tampa, Florida 33615. The seminar will be presented by Richard Smith, DO, psychiatrist. Dr. Smith received his medical degree from Ohio University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed residencies in neuropsychiatry and psychiatry at Largo Medical Center.
Dr. Smith will discuss how addiction can occur in many forms. The compulsion to continually engage in an activity or behavior despite the negative impact on the person’s ability to remain mentally or physically healthy in their home or community defines behavioral addiction. This seminar will address the behavior of an addict, what drives this behavior and possible treatment options available.
