SARASOTA COUNTY – The county’s new open-air circulator, Siesta Key Breeze, begins rolling Monday, March 20, providing visitors and residents free transportation service on Siesta Key.
To celebrate the launch of Sarasota County Area Transit’s six-month-long pilot project, the county is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony 10 a.m. Monday at Siesta Key Village gazebo near 5211 Ocean Blvd. The community is invited to attend the ceremony, then hop aboard the Breeze to visit Siesta Beach, which has been once again named the top U.S. beach by TripAdvisor.
Passengers who catch the Breeze on Monday are invited to share their photos and selfies on social media by using the hashtag #SKBreeze and tagging @scgovSCAT on Twitter.
The Breeze service is intended to help reduce traffic congestion and parking concerns on Siesta Key. It will replace Route 10, circulating every 20 minutes on the key during peak periods and every 30 minutes during non-peak times. The Breeze will run from 8 a.m. to midnight seven days a week, including holidays.
