Avison Young raised $28,000 at its Annual Charity Tennis Tournament held on Nov. 18, 2016, to benefit the Children’s Board Heart Gallery of Tampa Bay, a unique photographic exhibit created to raise awareness of Tampa’s foster children and to find forever families for the children in foster care.
Marking the seventh year of the tennis tournament, this year’s philanthropic efforts resulted in Avison Young raising a combined total of $120,000 for charitable organizations within the Tampa community. The 2016 tournament raised more money than in years past, surpassing its goal of $25,000 with 21 sponsors who generously donated to the charitable cause.
“As a company, we are honored to have the opportunity to bring awareness and facilitate fundraising that flows directly into charities and organizations that make a positive impact in the Tampa area,” said Trey Carswell, Principal of Avison Young. “With the collective support of our sponsors, we are humbled to once again make a substantial impact in giving back to our community.”
The event brought together 26 of the best and the brightest commercial real estate brokers, property owners, attorneys, bankers and notable clients from the Tampa Bay area to participate in a friendly tournament – held as a doubles competition in a round-robin format – at the Harbour Island Athletic Club to raise awareness and funds for a worthy cause. Thirteen teams played against each other in each round and were awarded points based on games won. Following the tournament, a check was presented to a representative from the Children’s Board Heart Gallery.
