• University Area CDC Gives Back to Community with Family Fun Day

    LOGO-UACDC-Family-Fun-DayTAMPA, Fla. – (Aug. 21, 2014) –The University Area Community Development Corporation (UACDC) is hosting its second annual Family Fun Day, Saturday August 23 from 11am until 2pm at the University Area Community Center, 14013 N. 22nd St. in Tampa. There is no charge to attend and there will be complimentary food, activities, face painting, music and dancing as well as raffles to win a bicycle and a Google Chromebook.

    Families will also have the opportunity to take advantage of free services from numerous organizations in attendance. Last year’s event drew nearly 400 citizens to the UACDC campus.

    “We look forward to seeing our neighbors while sharing information on the diverse programs and amenities available,” said UACDC’s Director of Development, Ronnie Oliver. “Not only are we bringing residents together, but we’re strengthening that sense of community within the University Area that is critical to the success of our revitalization efforts.”

    Hillsborough County Fire Rescue will have a junior obstacle course as well as an up-close tour of its Fire Engine and Hands-Only™ CPR demonstrations. Suncoast Community Health Centers’ Mobile Medical Bus will also be on hand with complimentary health services, including sports physicals, immunizations and wellness exams.

    Additional vendors and organizations include: Global Refuge Community Church, Kinship Services Network Hillsborough – The Children’s Home, USF Bay Area Early Steps Program, Positive Spin, Parents and Children United Foundation, Inc., Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival, Posimoto – Changing Faces, Humana MarketPoint, REACHUP, Inc., Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, LifePath Hospice, WalkWise Florida, Tomlinson Dental, CareerSource Tampa Bay, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Tampa Family Health Centers, Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) – Head Start, Extra Care Pharmacy, STEM Corps, Prodigy Cultural Arts Program, Caribbean Cultural Association, Essence of Life Spinal Care, The Tampa Tribune and PRO Martial Arts.
