Veteran law enforcement leader named Director of Police Services
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (Oct. 14, 2013) — David Hendry has been named USF St. Petersburg Director of Police Services.
Hendry has 30 years of law enforcement experience, including most recently as chief of police of Tallahassee Community College.
Hendry joined TCC after 28 years with the Tallahassee Police Department, where he started as a patrolman and rose through the ranks to become Major in charge of the organization development bureau. He is certified in FEMA emergency training and preparedness and special training in terrorism and crowd control.
Hendry is a native of St. Petersburg, born just blocks from the USFSP campus at Bayfront Medical Center. He grew up in St. Petersburg and earned his A.A. and A.S. degrees from St. Petersburg College. He also earned a B.S. in criminology and an M.S. in social services from Florida State University.
“I am pleased to have such an experienced and well-qualified law enforcement professional to fill this key leadership position on our team,” said Sandra Conway, interim regional vice chancellor for administrative and financial services. “His experience in both municipal law enforcement and higher education will serve us well and his knowledge of St. Petersburg as a native of this city will allow him to hit the ground running.
Hendry begins his new duties on Oct. 28.
