• The 2013 Palmetto 4th of July Festival Celebrates with The Guess Who and the Village People!

PALMETTO—Two years ago, the Palmetto 4th of July Celebration offered “two tickets to paradise” with rock icon EDDIE MONEY. Last year, they answered the question, “who let the dogs out?” with the legendary THREE DOG NIGHT. In 2013, Palmetto celebrates Independence day with a free concert in the newly renovated Sutton Park with THE GUESS WHO and the VILLAGE PEOPLE.

THE GUESS WHO will open the Festival  around 5:00 pm with #1 hit songs such as “American Woman” and  “No Sugar Tonight” and top 10 hits like “Laughing”, “These Eyes”,  “No Time”,  “Share The Land”  and “Clap For The Wolfman” span decades of rock and roll and can be found on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials and in major motion pictures.

Recipients of a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the one-of-a-kind VILLAGE PEOPLE is synonymous with dance music.  Their impact on music has earned them the title “Kings of Disco”. The Village People scored a number of disco and dance hits, including their trademark “Macho Man”, “Go West”, the classic club medley of “San Francisco (You’ve Got Me) / In Hollywood (Everybody is a Star)”, “In the Navy”, “Can’t Stop the Music”, and their biggest hit, “Y.M.C.A.”. They have sold upwards of 100 million records world-wide. These six talented men combine energetic choreography with outrageous fun! Their music provides entertainment for all and will have you singing & dancing!

The VILLAGE PEOPLE will appear around 7:00 PM.

At the end of the concert, guests are encouraged to take a short walk down to the Manatee River to enjoy a Fireworks display sponsored by the City of Palmetto, Manatee County and the City of Bradenton. The Fireworks start around 9:30 pm.

The free concert will be performed on the newly constructed Sutton Park Pavilion. The roof structure will be completed prior to this year’s event. This 40 ft x 70 ft sized stage is two years in  the making and will be the venue for future Palmetto 4th of July Festival music performances.
